Tafsir al-Jalalain, literally meaning "the commentary of the two Jalals," is a renowned Quranic exegesis book. Originally compiled by Jalaluddin al-Mahalli in 1459, it was later continued by his student Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi in 1505. This exegesis book is commonly regarded as a classical Sunni interpretation frequently used as a reference due to its perceived ease of comprehension and concise one-volume structure.

Jalaluddin al-Mahalli commenced the commentary from the beginning of Surah Al-Kahf to the end of Surah An-Naas, then proceeded to interpret Surah Al-Fatihah onwards. Unfortunately, Al-Mahalli passed away before completing the work. Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi took over and resumed the commentary, starting from Surah Al-Baqarah to Surah Al-Isra'. He later positioned the interpretation of Surah Al-Fatihah at the end of Al-Mahalli's previous sequence. However, there are still differing opinions regarding the contribution of each commentator.
